Kids' jiu jitsu kimonos

Five kids' sizes: M00, M0, M1, M2 and M3. Kids' jiu jitsu sizing is based on height and weight, not age, because two children of the same age can be two sizes apart.

If your child is between two sizes, take the larger one. Our kimonos are heat pre-shrunk and don't shrink in the wash, so if it's tight from the start it will stay tight, and room to grow works in your favor.

Fabric weight measures the density of the jacket, which is where the grip battle happens. 400 GSM gives enough density so grips don't break easily, without the extra weight of a 450 GSM.

In kids' sizes that difference is more noticeable than in adults: the same fabric weight sits on a body with less mass, and an overly heavy kimono holds back the movement of a child who is still learning technique.

Measurements, weight, collar thickness and sleeve and pant length within the rules. In kids' divisions the uniform check is the same as for adults: if the kimono doesn't comply, the child doesn't compete.

Permitted colors: white, blue and black. White is the one that raises the fewest questions at the check.

A kids' kimono gets outgrown before it wears out, as long as the fabric doesn't shrink. That's why heat pre-shrinking matters more here than for adults: without it, the kimono gets shorter with washing and adds shrinkage to the child's growth.

The double-panel reinforcements and triple stitching at the crotch, sleeves and side vents are in the same areas as in the adult line.

Wash inside out in cold water, 30 °C max, with mild detergent. No bleach, no fabric softener (it alters the consistency of the collar), no tumble dryer and no iron. Air dry, away from direct sunlight. More detail in the kimono washing guide.
